Narak Chaturdashi and Diwali on the Same Day: Why Abhyang Snan Is Done at Dawn

In 2026, Choti Diwali and Badi Diwali will be celebrated on the same day, November 8. The day begins with the Abhyang Snan, a sacred bath taken before sunrise. Traditionally, families in the USA, Canada, and the UK will observe this a day earlier. In many Indian states, festivities will reflect regional customs and practices on the same day.
